Baseball player, Spencer Torkelson #20, celebrates

It’s July, the All-Star break is around the corner, and we’re officially in the heat of the MLB season. So who’s actually good? Who’s overrated? And who’s quietly lurking, waiting to ruin someone’s October?

In this week’s updated MLB Power Rankings, we break down the top 10 baseball teams of 2025 based on their performance, momentum, and star power. Whether you’re following the MLB standings, checking which team is hottest before the All-Star break, or just curious about who’s dominating Major League Baseball right now—here’s everything you need to know.

10. San Diego Padres — Figuring It Out
Maybe?

With Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado leading the way, this lineup should scare the hell out of everyone, and lately it actually has. But let’s be real—the bottom of the order has been dead weight, and if they want to stay in the hunt, those guys need to wake up. The pitching’s been solid enough, but this team’s too talented to let half the lineup drag them down. Big names, big payroll—no more excuses.

9. Milwaukee Brewers — Same Old Brew

The Brewers are the kings of “just enough.” They don’t blow you away, but with Jacob Misiorowski and Freddy Peralta, they can beat anyone 3–2. Someone in that lineup

needs to step up, though, or they’re going to get bounced quick come October.

8. New York Yankees — Wake Up Already

On paper? Terrifying. On the field? Eh. Aaron Judge is still doing his thing, Jasson Domínguez is giving them life at the plate, and Max Fried is a potential Cy Young winner, but the rest of this squad looks like they’re sleepwalking. If Anthony Volpe and Giancarlo Stanton don’t start pulling their weight, this could get ugly fast.

7. New York Mets — MLB Top 10 Team at #7

The New York Mets are clawing their way back after a rough June. With Juan Soto, Pete Alonso, and Francisco Lindor leading the charge, the Mets have the firepower to rise fast in the MLB standings 2025. Their bullpen has been a strength, but consistent starting pitching is key to making a run.

6. Toronto Blue Jays — Heating Up

Don’t look now, but the Jays might finally be putting it all together. Vlad Guerrero Jr. is mashing, Bo Bichette looks locked in, and Alejandro Kirk is back to his All-Star self. The rotation is solid, the bullpen is solid, the vibes are solid. They just feel
 dangerous.

5. Chicago Cubs — Believe It

The Chicago Cubs have shocked everyone by leading the NL Central and posting one of the best run differentials in MLB. Newcomer Kyle Tucker and breakout star Michael Busch have transformed the offense, and the Cubs are sitting on top of the NL Central like they belong there. Wrigley Field is alive again as the Cubs aim for October glory.

4. Philadelphia Phillies — Business as Usual

The Phillies have been here before—and they know it. With a well-rounded lineup, steady pitching led by Zack Wheeler, and plenty of postseason experience, Philadelphia remains one of the most complete teams in baseball. If you’re betting on balance and consistency in October, bet on Philly.

3. Houston Astros — Back from the Dead, MLB’s Hottest Team in June/July

We all thought the Astros might finally be cooked. Wrong. After a brutal start, they ripped off the best month of baseball anyone’s played this year, posting a 24-8 record since June 1.

2. Detroit Tigers — MLB’s Biggest Cinderella Story

The Tigers are for real. Tarik Skubal has emerged as a legit ace, mowing down hitters with ease. Gleyber Torres, acquired from the Yankees, has been a steady veteran presence, while young guns like Riley Greene, Spencer Torkelson, and Zach McKinstry have stepped up and delivered big hits all season. Add in Javier Báez—finding new life in this revitalized lineup—and you’ve got a team that’s firing on all cylinders.

1. Los Angeles Dodgers — Top Dogs (Again)

It’s boring but true—the Dodgers are still the best team in baseball. Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Shohei Ohtani headline a lineup that’s already a nightmare, but now Hyeseong Kim is batting over .350 and adding another layer of chaos for opposing pitchers. Behind the plate, Will Smith continues to prove he’s arguably the best catcher in baseball. Even with injuries and a few slumps, they’re stacked, deep, and just plain better than everyone else right now.

đŸ”„Â Final Word: Who Will Be #1 in the Next MLB Power Rankings?

The Dodgers and Tigers have separated themselves as the cream of the crop, but the Cubs, Blue Jays, and Phillies are lurking, ready to pounce. Meanwhile, the Yankees, Mets, Rays, and Brewers still have the talent to surge. With the MLB trade deadline 2025 approaching and the second half of the season underway, the battle for the top spot in the MLB Power Rankings is far from over.
